STC’s security commander survives assassination in Aden

ADEN, Dec. 23 (YPA) – Commander of the so-called “Security Belt Force” of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Lahj province, Brigadier General Waddah Abdelaziz, survived on Wednesday an assassination attempt in Aden province, southern Yemen.

Local sources said that unidentified gunmen opened fire on Abdulaziz while he was passing on the Corniche sidewalk in Al-Mansoura district.

The sources added that the escorts of Abdulaziz responded to the attackers to force them to flee, noting that there were no casualties.

The operation came three days after a decision to suspend the commander of the security belt in Lahj from work by the commander of the so-called “support and backing forces” appointed by Saudi-led coalition.
