SANAA, Dec. 12 (YPA) – A Russian “MiG-31” fighter intercepted a US Air Force “RC-135” reconnaissance aircraft over the Bering Sea and escorted it until it moved away from the Russian border.
A statement by the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday that “Russian radar stations detected an air target approaching the Russian border over the international waters of the Bering Sea and as a result, a MiG-31 fighter belonging to the Air Defense Forces of the Pacific Fleet flew over,” The crew identified the target and turned out to be a strategic reconnaissance aircraft (RS-135) of the US Air Force, and the Russian fighter escorted it. ”
The statement added that the “Russian fighter” MiG-31 “returned safely to the airport base after the American plane departed from the Russian border.
