ABYAN, Dec. 7 (YPA) – Undersecretary of Abyan province Saleh al-Junaidi said the clashes between coalition militias in the province have escalated and caused large numbers of civilian displacement.
More than 500 families have been displaced in the past two weeks from Sheikh Salem, Al-Tariya, Wadi Sala and al-Darjaj areas to escape the inferno of clashes between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council(STC) militias and Islah militants, which have spread to their villages and affected their homes, al-Junaidi said.
He noted that thousands of families were still stuck and could not get out of their villages as the mercenaries used heavy weapons in the shelling.
Al-Junaidi held coalition countries responsible for the disastrous consequences of the conflict between their militias in the province.
He called on the UN and its bodies to come to the areas of confrontation to evacuate the stranded population and provide them with food and shelter assistance.
