ABYAN, Nov. 28 (YPA) – Several commanders loyal to the UAE-backed southern Transitional Council (STC) were killed on Friday in an attack launched by Hadi and Islah forces in Abyan province, southern Yemen, local sources said.
According to the sources, at least 10 members of the STC militias were killed, including two high ranking military commanders in a shelling carried out by al-Islah forces on the STC’s positions in the Sheikh Salem Front in Abyan.
Awad al-Saadi, commander of support operations and Abdul Majid Bin Shuja’a were among the dead, the sources said.
Tensions have returned to the Abyan fronts as Riyadh negotiations between Hadi and the STC on the formation of new government stalled.
