SANAA, Nov. 4 (YPA) – Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed accused the Tigray regional government of attacking federal forces stationed there and said the troops would use force to secure the country.
“The last point of the red line has been crossed,” Abiy said in a statement on Twitter early on Wednesday, according to Reuters.
On Tuesday, the United States expressed deep sadness over Sunday’s attack in western Ethiopia that claimed dozens of victims, including children and women, and burned many homes.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened by the brutal killing of dozens of innocent people, including many women and children, on November 1st in the West Wellega area of Oromia,” the US Embassy in Ethiopia said in a statement .
The Embassy was deeply disturbed by what it said were indications that many of the victims had been targeted because of their race, and urged the Ethiopian Government to conduct a transparent investigation into the horrific attack.
