Academician opposing to UAE kidnapped in Socotra
SOCOTRA, Nov. 03 (YPA) – The UAE forces kidnapped on Tuesday a leading member in the so-called “Southern National Alliance” on Socotra Island, southern Yemen.
A local source on the island confirmed that head of the mass organizations Department in the Southern National Alliance’s branch, Dr. Ahmed Salem Saleh, was kidnapped from his workplace at the College of Education.
The source added that the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militia took Dr. Saleh to one of its prisons, for unknown reasons.
The “Southern National Alliance”, funded by the businessman Saleh Al-Eisi who is close to the “Islah Party”, follows a policy opposing the Emirati presence on Socotra Island.
