SOCOTRA, Nov. 1 (YPA) – Differences between Saudi forces and UAE occupation forces have arisen on the Yemen’s island of Socotra.
The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Socotra called for a demonstration in the island to demand the expulsion of Saudi troops, which it accused of starving the island’s residents in a sign of worsening Saudi-UAE differences over the island.
As the UAE seeks to take control over the island alone, Saudi Arabia is trying to obtain an Emirati commitment to abandon its militias, hand over Aden and pass the stalled Riyadh agreement, according to political sources.
The STC accused Saudi forces of causing the suffocating oil derivatives crisis in the island and putting obstacles in the way of UAE ships.
