Iraq: Explosive device explodes in Al-Karrada area in central Baghdad

SANAA, Oct. 13 (YPA) – A powerful explosion has rocked the center of Iraqi capital, Baghdad, Iraqi media reported on Monday evening.

Security sources said the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device targeting a liquor store on Salman Faiq Street in al-Karrada area in central Baghdad.

“The explosion caused material damage and injured one person. The wounded man was taken to hospital,” according to The Baghdad Today news agency.

Earlier this month, Iraqi authorities said that “one person was killed as a result of a booby-trapped house explosion in Anbar province in western Iraq”.

Last month, Iraq witnessed bomb attacks targeting trucks belonging to companies contracted by the international coalition in Iraq.

The capital, Baghdad, is also witnessing almost daily katyusha rockets, most of which target the US embassy in the fortified Green Zone and Baghdad International Airport.
