Ethiopia: We have no intention of using the Renaissance Dam to harm Egypt and Sudan

SANAA, Sept. 26 (YPA) – Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has said his country has no intention of harming Egypt and Sudan with the Renaissance Dam project.

It was built on the Blue Nile, and has sparked a water dispute between the three countries.

Speaking at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, Abiy said, “I would like to make it clear that we do not intend to harm these two countries.”

“Our biggest concern now is to recover from the Coronavirus crisis and build a better future,” he said, adding that The Renaissance dam is the most important project of his country at the moment,.

Ethiopians “want to provide energy for their country,” he added.
