Explosion targets motorcade of Afghan Vice President in Kabul

SANAA, Sept. 9 (YPA) – A bomb exploded on the side of a road in Kabul on Wednesday targeting the convoy of Afghan Vice President Omar Allah Saleh.
“Today, the enemies of Afghanistan tried once again to harm Saleh, but they failed to reach their goal, and MP Saleh survived the attack unscathed,” wrote a spokesman for the Afghan Vice President’s office, on Facebook.

Murad stated that the bomb targeted Saleh’s convoy and wounded some of his guards, while Ministry of Health officials said that two bodies and seven wounded have been taken to hospital so far.

The “Taliban” movement said, on Tuesday, that the US special envoy to Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, held a meeting in Doha with the head of the new Taliban team, which is scheduled to enter peace talks with a team from the government.

It is expected that negotiations will start in Doha, the fruit of an agreement between Washington and the Taliban, after the release of the last batch of about six out of 5,000 Taliban prisoners, according to the agency “Reuters”.
