Clashes break out between al-Qaeda, al-Islah militias in Marib

MARIB, Aug. 18 (YPA) – Clashes broke out between al-Qaeda elements and forces belonging to al-Islah militia in Marib, local sources said on late Monday.

According to the sources, forces at checkpoint near the sheep market and the power plant stopped a Vitara car carrying al-Qaeda members who refused to be checked and exchanged fire with soldiers at the checkpoint.

The al-Qaeda elements left ferries and farms near the checkpoint, killing and wounding several members of the checkpoint, the source said.

The source pointed out that reinforcements for al-Islah militias came to the checkpoint during the clashes and arrested two al-Qaeda members, Mohammed Ali Mohammed al-Mansouri, Aref Ahmed Al-Tissi and took them to an unknown location, while the rest of the elements fled.
