UAE-backed officer escapes assassination attempt in Taiz

TAIZ, Aug. 11 (YPA) – UAE-backed officer in 35 brigade escaped on Tuesday an assassination attempt in Taiz province, sources told Yemen Press Agency.

The sources confirmed that unknown gunmen believed to be from Islah party’s militias attacked the officer Raaid al-Haj in al-Birin area.

Other sources declared that 35 brigade was bombed by mortar shells and heavy machine guns.

Al-Mashaaira mountain was shelled by gunmen loyal to 17 brigade that belong to Islah militia, the sources added.

The sources pointed out that Islah sent military reinforcements to the hills overlooking al-Birin area.
