Civil Defense to inventory Old Sanaa buildings vulnerable to collapse

SANAA, July 28 (YPA) – The Civil Defense Department at the Ministry of Interior said on Tuesday that it will form a committee to inventory all buildings that are exposed to the risk of collapse in the Old Sanaa city in order to quickly find solutions for restoring them.

This came during a meeting that gathered Undersecretary of the Civil Defense Department Brigadier Abdulkarim Meayad with Head of Bilqis Throne Foundation for Development, Tourism and Heritage Doaa Alwaseai.

The meeting dealt with the collapse of many buildings in the Old Sanaa as a result of negligence and lack of maintenance.

Alwaseai confirmed her willingness to cooperate with the Civil Defense Department and provide a database on the buildings vulnerable to collapse in all neighborhoods and zones of the old city.
