ADEN, July 18 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias in the southern port city of Aden besieged residence of Ahmed Al-Turki, governor of Lahj in Saudi-backed government on Saturday, local sources said.
According to the local sources, the STC’s militias led by Osan al-A’anshiali clashed in the last the security guards of the house of Ahmad al-Turki, after imposing a siege on him in the city of Al-Faisal.
The sources indicated that Al-Sabiha tribes have pushed large reinforcements to Aden to support Al- Turki whose fate is not known.
The siege of the house came hours after a leaked audio clip showing the transitional orders to assassinate him.
The siege of Al-Turki’s house coincided with the release of a demonstration by his supporters in the areas of Sabiha in Lhaj, to which al-Turki belongs.
The western directorates in Lahj have boycotted Thursday’s demonstration in al-Hawtah district, partly because the STC’s supporters were prevented by local officials from reaching the capital of Lahj province, where transitional supporters demonstrated to demand self-rule.
