One killed in Detroit during protests

SANAA, May 30 (YPA) – One person was killed Saturday and 40 arrested during protests in Detroit, according to local US media, following the death of George Floyd , an African-American by police in Minneapolis.

The Detroit News quoted local police chief James Craig as saying that one person was killed after an unidentified man opened fire from a car in the middle of a large crowd of protesters, and police do not know who fired the shot, but confirm that he was not a police officer.

Violent clashes erupted between US protesters and police during a demonstration in Minneapolis, Minnesota, protesting over  the killing of an African-American man when he was arrested by police.

There was outrage in the state after a video surfaced in which the man was shown screaming and crying, repeatedly saying before his death, “I can’t breathe”.

Floyd, a black man, died after being handcuffed and pinned to the ground by an officer’s knee.
