Germany bans Hezbollah on its territory

SANAA, April 30 (YPA) – The German Interior Ministry announced on Thursday that it has taken a decision to ban Lebanon’s Hezbollah on its territory and designate it a terrorist organization, Reuters reported.

According to Reuters, German police carried out raids this morning to arrest people belonging to the party, which is now banned under German law.

According to German reports, about 1,050 people are accused of belonging to the party on German soil.

Horst Seehofer has announced the banning of Hezbollah in Germany,” a spokesman for the German Interior Ministry said.

The German Parliament had earlier approved a proposal urging Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government to ban all Lebanese Hezbollah activities on German soil.

The Parliament pointed to what it described as “terrorist activities”, especially in Syria, as it claims.
