Wikipedia puts Socotra Island under UAE Control

SANAA, May 7 (YPA) –  The visitors of the international Wikipedia encyclopedia got surprised by the change of information about the Yemeni island of Socotra considered to be subject to the de facto of United Arab of Emirates occupation authorities.

According to the information recently shown in the encyclopedia, the Emirates claimed to have rented the Socotra Island for 99 years.

Although the global Wikipedia information is available is amenable, this amendment reveals a tendency to obliterate the identity of Yemen’s Socotra, especially as it is a world tourist destination and many foreigners rely on the Wikipedia to identify the most beautiful tourist areas in the world.

With the recent events taking place in the island, the United Arab Emirates ‘ attempt to control it, which is considered by ” Bin Daghar’ authorities ” as a clear violation of  Yemen’s sovereignty.

According to observers, the falsification of information in the Encyclopedia illustrates the seriousness of the controversy that has recently occurred and reveals a real intention of the UAE to occupy the island.

The observers demanded the Yemeni youth to correct the false information about Socotra Island as a purely Yemeni land and could not be an Emirati.

Information which says that Socotra is an Emirati land is available on Wikipedia in the English version.
