BRUSSELS, April 28 (YPA) – The European Union announced on Monday its rejection of “autonomy declaration” of the so-called the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in the Yemeni southern provinces it controls.
Spokesman for the European External Action Service in Brussels Pierre Vimont said that “the transitional council’s declaration impeded the United Nations efforts to reach peace in Yemen.”
In the same context, Spokesman for the European Foreign Affairs and and Security Policy Peter Stano called, in press statements Monday, the transitional council and Hadi’s government to implement Riyadh agreement.
The European official said that the declaration of “autonomy” in southern Yemen would cause problems and hinder the efforts of the United Nations seeking to settle the crisis of the conflict in Yemen.
The UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council announced on Saturday activating self-administration and declaring a state of emergency in the southern provinces it controls.
