STC’s militia leader escapes assassination in Aden

ADEN, Feb. 24 (YPA) – A militia leader affiliated with the UAE-backed Southern Transition Council (STC) survived an assassination attempt on Monday in the city of Aden, southern Yemen.

Media sources said that gunmen shot at the car of Hisham Awas, a militia leader of the transitional council, while he was passing in Bir Ahmed area.

Awas narrowly escaped the assassination attempt after the bullets hit the front of the armored car he was traveling in, according to “Aden Al-Ghad” news website.

This comes after a companion of a militia leader of the STC named Mustafa Mohammed Qassim was wounded when unidentified gunmen opened fire at him, near Durat al-Darah Hospital in Dar Saad area.
