SANAA, Nov. 20 (YPA) – The Shura Council on Wednesday strongly condemned the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s announcement that Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories are no longer in violation of international law.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the Shura Council considered that the US decision violates the Fourth Geneva Convention, which prohibits the occupation authority to transfer Israelis to the occupied Palestinian territories, and is totally contrary to the international law and resolutions of the international legitimacy and the Security Council, especially resolution No. 2334 against Israeli settlement.
The statement pointed out that the US administration is not qualified or authorized to cancel the resolutions of international legitimacy, and does not have the right to give any legitimacy to the Israeli settlement.
The Council called on Arab and Islamic countries and all peace-loving countries to take firm positions by withdrawing their ambassadors from America, expelling ambassadors of the United States and the Zionist entity from their countries and closing the embassies.
In its statement, the Shura Council also called for uniting the Arab and Islamic position to reject all settlement operations and the US administration’s attempts to obliterate the Palestinian issue within the framework of the so-called the century deal.
