ADEN, Oct. 3 (YPA) – The owners of commercial shops in al-Basatain area in the Southern port City of Aden have expressed their indignation at the “abuses” carried out by the UAE’s Southern Transitional Council militias against them, informed sources reported on Wednesday
According to the sources, the UAE-backed militias in the al-Basatain police station had order all owners of commercial shops to install surveillance cameras, which were done by the owners of the shops.
However, they received warnings that they should deliver the recordings of the cameras weekly to the department, considering this arbitrary measures against them.
The owners of the shops in a statement issued on Wednesday said that the militias asking them to pay for the establishment of a communications network linking these cameras to the police headquarters centrally, which should be by the government, not by them.
They pointed out that it was illogical to deliver all registrations monthly to the STC’s militias in the horticultural section, without cause to be delivered.
Complaints of abuse, exploitation and extortion of UAE-backed militias have increased since they took control of Aden last August.
