SANAA, April 21 (YPA) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Saturday strongly condemned the fatal shooting on one of its staff members in Yemen’s southwestern province of Taiz, in a statement obtained by Yemen Press Agency.

“We condemn this brutal and apparently deliberate attack on a dedicated humanitarian worker,” said ICRC’s Middle East Director, Robert Mardini.

Hanna Lahoud, a Lebanese national, was in charge of the ICRC’s detention programme in Yemen and when he was on his way to visit a prison, he was attacked by unknown armed men on the outskirts of Taiz city earlier on the day.
