120 killed, wounded in suicide bombing in Afghanistan

SANAA, Sept. 19 (YPA) – At least 23 people killed and 97 wounded in an explosion near the Afghan intelligence headquarters in the southern Afghan city of Qala.

According to Afghan sources, most of the victims were civilians, and inmates of Zabul State Hospital, which is located in the area of ​​attack.

The governor of the state, Rahmatullah Yermal  said that “a car bomb targeted the Afghan National Security Department on Thursday morning,” adding that “the state hospital located in the same place was destroyed.”

Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi claimed responsibility for the bombing, which he described as a “martyrdom operation against the intelligence department.”

“We carried out a martyrdom attack against the NDS,” Ahmadi said, claiming the building was completely destroyed.

Afghanistan is witnessing a series of attacks, mostly adopted by the Taliban, and comes ahead of presidential elections scheduled for September 28.
