Joint committee to identify sites for industrial zones in Sanaa, Amran

SANAA, Sept. 9 (YPA) – Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Mohammed al-Hashimi on Monday revealed a joint committee comprised of representatives of Industry, Endowments and Agriculture Ministries and the concerned bodies to identify and choose sites for the establishment of industrial zones.

“The committee will carry out field visits in the coming days to proposed areas in Sana and Amran provinces to select suitable places to establish industrial zones according to the technical standards set in the national vision for building the state,” said al-Hashimi.

Following the selection of sites, urban plans and studies for infrastructure would be drawn up to attract investment projects and accelerate the development, he added.

Al-Hashimi explained that these steps come within the Made in Yemen initiative to encourage local small and medium industries and develop partnership between the government and the private sector.

He called on the private sector to “invest in the industrial sector and take advantage of facilities to be provided in industrial zones.”
