UAE brings ” Indian and Bengal mercenaries” to Socotra Island

SOCOTRA, Sept. 5 (YPA) – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) occupation has transferred a new batch of mercenaries to the Socotra archipelago, Sources at Socotra International Airport said.

According to the sources, dozens of “Indians” and “Bengals” arrived on The Island of Socotra on an Emirati plane without knowing the reasons for bringing them to the island.

The sources said that dozens of “Indian” and “Bengali” mercenaries are being accommodated in the headquarters of the UAE forces on the island.

According to the Socotra Post news, residents of the Socotra archipelago feared that these mercenaries recruited by the UAE to carry out special operations against the exiled Hadi’s forces on the island or against the population.

Others feared that the UAE occupation is seeking to settle foreigners on the island, as the British occupation in Aden did during its time in Yemen.

The UAE has not made any comment on why the groups were brought to the island. Local authorities which suffer high tension due to the UAE presence, have not commented as well.

According to local sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, this recruitment process is not the first time Abu Dhabi has transferred Asian and Latin nationalities to the island, it has happened several times since the UAE arrived in Socotra at the end of 2015.

The UAE’s presence on Socotra island is met with the rejection of residents who consider it an “occupation”.
