BAYDA, June 22 (YPA)- The Yemeni army backed by popular committees on Friday have repelled an infiltration attempt carried out by mercenaries hired by Saudi-led coalition in the province of Bayda, in central Yemen, driving the enemy back with heavy losses, a military official told Yemen Press Agency.
According to the official, the coalition-backed mercenaries attacked Yemeni positions at the Qaniah front in Bayda and tried to advance to their positions. However, the army forces forced the attackers into retreat, causing heavy casualties on their ranks during the failed attack.
The official confirmed that the army forces were able to destroy three military vehicles; one of them is a military tank was destroyed with a kornet rocket, killing and injuring all those on board.
Earlier in the day, The missile forces of the Yemeni army fired two Zilizal-1 missiles targeting gatherings of the coalition-backed mercenaries in Qaniah front,
The missile attack hit its target accurately, leaving deaths and injuries in their ranks, the official said.
