TAIZ, June 2 (YPA) – A Tribal mediation succeeded in releasing a military commander loyal to Saudi-led coalition, who was kidnapped last week in Lahj province, local sources told Yemen Press Agency on Saturday.
According to the sources, a tribal mediation led by a number of sheikhs were able to release the commander of military police, Jamal al-Shamairi in Taiz, after he was abducted by gunmen in Tawr al-Baha district
The Mediation Committee is on its way to Taiz province to hand over al-Shamairi after his release, one of the sources said.
Al-Shamairi was kidnapped by tribal gunmen last Saturday in Tawr Al-Baha area of Lahj province, while he was travelling to Aden with his family to travel to perform Umrah rituals.
The gunmen called on the security authorities in Taiz to release the wanted security personnel, in exchange for his release, who threatened to kill him if they did not respond to their demands.
