UAE-backed militants kidnap, kill patient in Yemen’s Aden

ADEN, April 4 (YPA) –  A civilian was killed on Wednesday after being kidnapped from a medical facility run by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in Aden province, by gunmen believed to be affiliated with the UAE occupation forces, local sources reported.

According to the sources, gunmen stormed the Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) hospital in the Omar al-Mukhtar neighborhood of Sheikh Othman district and Kidnapped a patient named Aqaba Ali Haidara.

The militants took the civilian to the Cairo area and killed him there, according to informed sources. The gunmen reportedly shot him in the back of the head, one of the sources said.

Earlier, according to the source, a shooting took place on Tuesday between two armed groups, in which the civilian was injured and subsequently taken to the MSF hospital.

After the incident, MSF in Aden decided to stop receiving patients as of Wednesday afternoon.

“The kidnapping and killing of the patient was considered an assault on the sanctity of the organisation. We have decided to stop receiving patients because we can’t tolerate the kidnapping of a patient or any violence against the staff of the organisation,” MSF said in a statement.

On Tuesday, residents of Sheikh Othman’s neighborhood found the body of dead man in the district. The rate of assassinations has spiraled out of control recently, ever since the UAE occupiers imposed their agenda on the region.

MSF has been providing medical care in Aden free of charge since 2012, and has never closed even during the battles raging in Aden.
