Mohammed al-Houthi denounces UN pressures on besieged Duraihimi city

SANAA, April 1 (YPA) – Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of the Supreme Political Council, has denounced the siege imposed by Saudi-led coalition on Yemen and the city of Duraihimi in Hodeidah province, as well as the resulting reduction of the city’s share of relief aid by the United Nations.

“We put before the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the UN envoy the siege of Yemen and the imprisonment of 7,000 families in besieged Duraihimi,” al-Houthi said in a tweet on Sunday.

Al-Houthi asked about the role of the United Nations Organization by saying: “reducing the relief aid from 2,700 to 1,100, this is their [the UN’s] direct order”.

“The forces of the coalition besieged the city of Duraihimi five months ago in order to block any possible convoy of humanitarian goods coming into the city. Despite no convoy eventually showing up, the Saudi siege was a violation of international law regarding the accessibility of aid goods,” he wrote in another tweet.

Al-Houthi blamed the United Nations and the international community for their inaction regarding the siege of the city of Duraihimi.

The siege of the city of Duraihimi comes from the Saudi-led aggression forces despite the Stockholm Agreement, which is an agreement that should arrange the humanitarian side of Yemen and especially Hodeidah.

The criteria of the Stockholm agreement have so far not been implemented by the Saudi-led coalition-backed side.
