Justice Minister, IOM Chief of Mission discuss cooperation aspects
SANAA, March 24 (YPA) – Minister of Justice Ahmed on Sunday discussed with International Organization for Migration (IOM) Chief of Mission in Yemen David Derthick aspects of the cooperation in the field of refugees and combating human trafficking.
The two sides agreed to form a technical team from the Ministry of Justice and the IOM for joint coordinating on the issues of refugees and human trafficking cases.
In the meeting, the Minister explained that Yemen receives refugees despite the difficult conditions it is experiencing as a result of the aggression and siege.
He reviewed Yemen’s efforts to combat trafficking in human beings, which culminated in the issuance of the Law No. 1 for the year 2018, which aims to strengthen and coordinate areas of national and international cooperation on preventing and combating such crimes.
For his part, Derthick confirmed the IOM’s support for the national efforts to help refugees and improve their conditions, and to enhance the cooperation between the ministry and the organizations in related fields.
