Health Minister, WHO Regional Director visit hospitals in capital Sanaa

SANAA, March 21 (YPA) – Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha al-Mutawakil accompanied by WHO Regional Director for Eastern Mediterranean Dr. Ahmed al-Mandhari, on Thursday visited several hospitals in the capital Sanaa.

They visited the National Center for Oncology in Sanaa and get acquainted with the medical services provided by the center and the difficulties facing its work.

On the other hand, Dr. al-Mutawakil and Dr. al-Mandhari opened, during their visit to the Educational Republican Hospital in Sanaa, the early detection unit of breast cancer funded by WHO.

They inspected the hospital conditions and needs, as well as the services provided to patients in a number of departments and emergency sections in the hospital.

The health minister and WHO regional director visited patients with severe water diarrhea, including cholera, in Al-Sbeen Hospital for Maternity and Childhood, where they get acquainted with the level of services in the malnutrition center and the difficulties facing its work.

They also inspected the work at the Public Al-Thawra Hospital and its needs, and they were briefed on the services provided to patients in pediatric and emergency departments, dialysis center and other departments.

During the visit, the health minister praised the role of WHO in providing a lot of equipment, devices and medical supplies to the hospitals, especially in light of the continued aggression and siege, as well as its support for the Ministry’s efforts to combat cholera epidemic and other epidemics.
