TAIZ, March 21 (YPA) – The Islah Party and its militias deployed within the city of Taiz seem determined to resolve its battle with its rival Abu Abbas, an Emirati-backed organization, and is reportedly preparing and mobilizing for a decisive battle.
The Islah party in Taiz has called on its supporters to join the popular rally to support its militias and confront the threat of militants of the Abu Abbas brigades, backed by the UAE occupation.
The decision was widely criticized by other armed factions and pro-Coalition blocs in the city.
On the other hand, militants loyal to the UAE accused the Islah party’s militias of seeking an attack on the last strongholds of Abu Abbas’s militias in the Old City, whom have withdrawn towards area of Khda’aha after losing military clashes with Islah’s militias.
The violent clashes that erupted on Monday morning continued between the al-Islah militias and the Salafist militias of Abu Abbas, killing three soldiers, and one civilian, and injuring four civilians, including a child.
The Islah Party is desperate for control of the city of Taiz and has struck the Abu Abbas militias repeatedly over the past years.
The UAE has tightened its grip in the occupied southern Yemeni provinces and has been able to expel Islah completely from there, which explains the party’s fears if the Abu Abbas militias can extend their influence within the city of Taiz.
