SANAA, March 8 (YPA) -Egyptian authorities have banned a conference that was supposed to announce a political coalition of southern Yemenis supporting the exiled Hadi government.
According to media sources, the Egyptian authorities have refused to allow the convening of the conference, called the Southern National Coalition, in Cairo due to UAE pressure.
“The UAE has thwarted Hadi’s attempt to circumvent Abu Dhabi’s Southern Transitional Council,” media sources said.
The sources continued: “The UAE has asked the Egyptian government to prevent the holding of a conference meant to publicize a Southern coalition loyal to Hadi’s government.”
A media committee of the so-called Southern National Coalition launched a Facebook page that refers to preparations for the Coalition’s publicity.
According to the media committee, the Coalition “seeks to unite southern forces and components” in order to confront “the plight of Yemen” and promises to “put the southern issue on the table.”
