8 children killed, injured every day in war on Yemen: UNICIF

SANAA, March. 3 (YPA) – An executive director of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICIF) Henrietta Fore has said in a statement that eight children are killed or injured every day across 31 active conflict zones in Yemen.

Fore said the toll of the horrific war on children continues despite the Sweden’s agreement between the conflict parties in Yemen.

“The Red Sea province of Hodeidah has witnessed intense fighting, which has eased since the UN-brokered ceasefire went into effect on December 18,” Fore added.

The conflict has pushed more than 10 million of the Yemeni people at risk of starvation and inflicted the world’s worst humanitarian crisis, the statement said.

The statement explained over 24 million Yemenis are now dependent on the humanitarian aid for survival.

Around 10,000 people have been killed and more than 60,000 wounded since the beginning of the war waged by Saudi-led coalition in March 2015, according to the World Health Organization.
