Supreme Political Council directives to facilitate parliamentary elections to fill vacant seats

SANAA, Feb. 17 (YPA) – The Supreme Political Council on Sunday directed the concerned authorities to facilitate holding the parliamentary elections to fill vacant seats due to the death of representatives of those constituencies.

The Council urged the concerned bodies to create the proper atmosphere for the Supreme Committee for Elections and Referendum (SCER) and to provide the necessary assistance to the committee to enable it to perform its national duties and to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.

In this context, Chairman of the SCER Judge Mohammed al-Salemi briefed the Council on the committee’s arrangements for conducting the elections to fill vacant seats.

The Council’s meeting also reviewed the latest political and military developments, affirming its firm position on peace and the political process.

The Council renewed its condemnation of the so-called Warsaw Conference, which openly gathered a number of representatives of Arab regimes with the Zionist enemy, considering that a betrayal of the Palestinian cause and should be condemned from the Arab and Islamic peoples.
