Over 7mln children immunized during first days of measles campaign: Health Ministry

SANAA, Feb. 12 (YPA) – Ministry of Public Health and Population on Tuesday said it immunized more than seven million children during the first three days of the measles immunization campaign in several provinces.

Dr. Youssef al-Hadhri, director general of the national center for education and health information and population, made it clear that 7,287,099 children were vaccinated during the first three days of the vaccination campaign against measles and rubella by the field teams and health centers of the ministry.

“Yemenis became well aware of the importance of immunization in the light of the spread of deadly diseases, thanks to the proper awareness and health education,” said Dr. al-Hadhri.

He called on citizens to move during the three days remaining of the campaign to vaccinate their children in schools and fixed and temporary health centers in order to protect their children from measles and rubella.

On Saturday, the Health Ministry launched in the capital Sanaa and all provinces the national campaign for immunization against measles and rubella diseases, which lasts until February 14 and targets children from the age of 6 months to 15 years.
