SANAA, Feb. 11 (YPA) – UN special envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths on Monday arrived in Sanaa along with head of the UN observers’ mission in Hodeidah General Michael Lollesgaard.
Media sources said Griffiths and Gen. Lollesgaard would discuss with political leaders in Sanaa a proposal for redeployment of forces of the two parties to the conflict in Hodeidah, which is presented by Lollesgaard and was discussed already in Aden over the past few days.
Lollesgaard’s proposal includes securing safe corridors for humanitarian aid under international forces management.
The UN envoy noted told reporters that “there are assurances of commitment to the implementation of Hodeidah agreement.” He appreciated the efforts made to reopen the road to the Red Sea Mills, indicating that the guarantee of access to the mills is “a shared responsibility of all parties to the conflict.”
Griffiths’ remarks came at a time Saudi-led coalition forces and their militias continue to violate the ceasefire agreement in Hodeidah province.
