2 Palestinians killed in tunnel on Egyptian border
SANAA, Feb. 11 (YPA) – The Palestinian interior ministry in Gaza said on Monday that an officer of the Ministry of Interior was killed during a security mission and another citizen was killed in a tunnel on the border with Egypt suffocating as a result of inhaling toxic gases during rescue operations.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Interior and National Security Iyad al-Bazm said that the pilot officer Abdul Hamid Attallah al-Aker (29 years), died during a security mission to inspect the tunnel border in the southern Gaza Strip.
Sobhi Saqr Abu Qurshin, 28 years old, was also strangled as a result of inhaling toxic gases during rescue operations.
The spokesman added that the civil defense crews were able to extract the bodies of martyrs from the tunnel, after considerable efforts lasted several hours, while the rescue of two other security elements, and were taken to hospital for treatment.
