FM stresses importance of cooperation with UN organizations operating in Yemen

SANAA, Feb. 9 (YPA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs Hisham Sharaf stressed on the importance of full cooperation and coordination with the organizations, programs of the United Nations operating in Yemen.

In a statement obtained by Yemen’s Saba News Agency, the minister said there are organizations are once again trying to exploit some of the positions to hold responsibility on the National Salvation Government, which are working continuously to provide full support, cooperation and facilitation to the United Nations organizations, their programs in Yemen.

“The ongoing policy of starvation and the out-all siege are used by the Saudi aggression coalition’s countries and their mercenaries as a weapon of war against the Yemeni people, one of the forms of genocide against civilians in flagrant violation of all international human rights and conventions,” Sharaf said.

The minister rejected the a statement made by the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Mark Lowcock that the government had refused to grant the UN team to access the Red Sea Mills of Hodeidah, which did not fully coincide with the facts on the ground.

Sharaf touched upon that the Lowcock’s statement tried to show the national authorities in Sanaa as handicapped side despite the full positive stances by the authorities towards events in Hodeidah.

The minister called on Lowcock to a field visit to Hodeidah and to see on the real situation and to more information and clarification the reasons by United Nations offices in Sanaa.
