SANAA, Feb. 7 (YPA) – The UN Office in the capital Sanaa on Thursday said that 75 international observers, who will deploy in Hodeidah city, could be stationed as of March on a ship docked in the port of Hodeidah western Yemen.
An official at the UN office told France Press Agency that there is a proposal that the international observers would be stationed on a ship anchored at the port of Hodeidah, citing the information published by the French newspaper “Le Figaro”.
The newspaper said that the United Nations has made its decision on the ship, explaining that it will lease a commercial ship owned by the Canadian company “Bridgemans Services.”
In its recent negotiations with the parties to the conflict in Yemen, the United Nations has been using a ship anchored off the coast of Hodeidah since Sunday to gather representatives of the two parties.
The United Nations said on Tuesday that the parties to the Yemeni conflict had made progress towards the redeployment of troops outside the coastal city.
The last Sunday’s talks were chaired by former Dutch general Patrick Cammaert, head of the United Nations Observer Mission in Yemen.
On Tuesday evening, the retired Danish general Michael Lollesgaard was appointed by the United Nations in the post to succeed Cammaert.
