Health Minister meets UNFPA Deputy Executive Director

SANAA, Feb. 7 (YPA) – Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha al-Mutawakil on Thursday met in Sanaa with Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Dereje Wordofa.

The meeting discussed areas of cooperation between the Health Ministry and the Fund in various health fields, especially regarding maternal and child health, and the possibility of increasing and expanding the Fund’s support for the health sector.

Dr. al-Mutawakil confirmed the ministry’s readiness to facilitate the work of the Fund to carry out its humanitarian role and provide support to the health sector in Yemen especially in this extraordinary period witnessed by the country as a result of the continued aggression and siege.

For his part, Wordofa hailed the level of bilateral cooperation between the Fund and the Ministry, confirming the Fund’s readiness to support the Ministry in several fields.
