SANAA, Feb. 2 (YPA) – A consultative meeting, held on Saturday in the capital Sanaa and chaired by Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha al-Mutawakil, discussed mechanisms to promote the routine immunization.
The meeting also dealt with the provinces’ readiness to implement the national campaign against measles and rubella.
At the meeting, Dr. al-Mutawakil stressed the importance of assessing the current situation of epidemics and diseases in order to promote the health and routine immunization situation in the country.
He emphasized the need for enhancing the routine immunization activities in all provinces and activating health centers to provide preventive and curative services.
The two-day meeting will discuss results of the 2018 routine coverage, as well as updating and reviewing the routine immunization strategy, with the participation of the Health Ministry’s undersecretaries for services and planning sectors, directors of the health offices in the provinces, and immunization managers.
Representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF indicated to the importance of the meeting to discuss enhancing the routine immunization system and working for the success of the measles and rubella campaign.
