Yemeni Interior Ministry seizes 40 tons hashish in 2018

SANAA, Jan. 31 (YPA) – The Drug Trafficking Combating Department of the Yemeni Interior Ministry in Sanaa has seized 40 tons, 894 kilograms and 768 grams of hashish during the last year 2018.

The General Directorate for Drug Control of the Yemeni Ministry of Interior in Sana’a seized 40 tons, 894 kilograms and 768 grams of hashish during the year 2018.

Brigadier General Majid al-Qaifi, Director General of the Drug Trafficking Combating Department, said that the seizing of drug and combating trafficking, smuggling and promotion of drugs came as a result of the high security sense for the department employees and the security services in all provinces.

The number of drug cases amounted to 1123 cases ranging between trafficking, smuggling and promotion, on which 1960 defendants were arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution to take legal action against them, Bri. Gen. al-Qaifi said.
