Deadly clashes erupt between pro-UAE tribes and Saudi-backed militants in Shabwah

SHABWAH, Jan. 25 (YPA) – Deadly clashes erupted in al-Aqlah district in Shaba province, eastern  Yemen,  on Thursday morning, between Saudi-led coalition rival militias, local sources told Yemen Press Agency.

According to the sources, the clashes broke out between Islah party militants and pro-UAE tribal forces called the “Shabwanian elite forces”.

The sources said that the clashes erupted on the backdrop that the militants ‘ insistence to remain as the protection forces on the oil wells in the region, but the pro-UAE tribes pressed the exiled Hadi government to hand over the company’s insurance and equipment to them.

It is worthy to say that the confrontations erupted more than 10 days ago and resulted in civilians casualties from the region who blocked crude tankers to and from the oil Company (OMV), on the pretext of being affected by the oil exploration and export work.
