LAHJ, Jan. 23 (YPA) – Gunmen loyal to Saudi-led coalition in military uniforms in al-Anad area of Lahj province, southern Yemen, on Tuesday assaulted a resident of the city of Aden and his family as they were returning from the capital Sanaa.
Najib Abdo Ahmed Shamsan, a resident from Aden, complained that he and his family were subjected to an assault by gunmen at al-Anad checkpoint during their return from Sanaa after they went to get visas to India, according to “Aden Al-Ghad” newspaper.
Shamsan said that that happened after he tried to talk to one of the gunmen while they were provoking and beating one of Hodeidah residents in front of them.
He continued “I was surprised by a gunman attacking me and then many of gunmen started beating me and my son with weapons, causing several wounds to us.”
“They fired into the air to scare my family and they assaulted women and beaten some of them,” he added.
He told the newspaper that the gunmen tried to imprison him and his son before some of them intervened to release them and allow them to continue their way towards Aden.
The southern provinces are witnessing racist and regional actions by their inhabitants against the people of the northern provinces amid spread of chaos and lawless gangs, after the UAE occupation forces controlled the south.
