Cause of death for Saudis sisters revealed

SANAA, Jan. 23 (YPA) – The deaths of the two Saudi girls, “Tala Farea, 16, and Rotana Farea, 22,” who were found dead in the Hudson River in October committed suicide, according to the City medical examiner’s office.

Tala Farea, 16, and Rotana Farea, 22, “bound themselves together before descending into the Hudson River,” Chief Medical Examiner Barbara Sampson said in a statement.

The two Saudi Arabian sisters who were discovered duct-taped in a New York City river in October died by suicide, the city medical examiner’s office revealed Tuesday.

“My office found that the death of the two sisters was a result of suicide, as the two young girls tied their bodies to each other before going down to the Hudson River,” Barbara Sampson added.

After their death, a policeman appeared to confirm that the two sisters had applied for asylum, without giving further details.
