SANAA, Jan. 17 (YPA) – A Lebanese military official has arrested a man suspected of crossing the border into Lebanon from Israel, a military official said on Thursday.
The Lebanese state news agency said the detainee was a US citizen.
The war between Lebanon and Israel prevented its citizens from visiting the other country. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the man was being interrogated and that once he received information, the army would issue a statement.
The man, who was detained, was detained in the southern city of Tire where he was staying, the state-run National News Agency said, adding that the man was being interrogated under the supervision of the judicial authorities.
There was no immediate comment from the US embassy in Lebanon.
Doubts were already being made about a person crossing the border known as the Blue Line.
The Israeli army has identified a break in the fence and indicates that there is a person crossing the border from Israel to Lebanon, and the incident is under investigation.
