SANAA, Jan. 15 (YPA) – A total of 90 people, including 23 children, were injured when a truck bomb exploded east of Afghan capital Kabul, the deputy representative of the Afghan Ministry of Internal Affairs Nasrat Rahimi said Monday.
Reuters reported that a car bomb exploded near a foreign-owned compound where foreign non-governmental organizations are located and it is under tight security.
A security source said the explosion took place on the Jalal-abad road in eastern Kabul near Green Village Compound, which is fortified with anti-blast walls and checkpoints.
Since the beginning of May, Afghanistan has seen a marked increase in operations and violent battles between the internal security forces, supported by US and NATO forces, as part of the mission of “firm support” and the militants of the “Taliban” who have intensified their attacks since the announcement of the launch Spring operations under the name of “trench”.
United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reported that it recorded the highest number of civilian casualties during conflicts in the first six months of 2018, with 1,692 civilians killed between 1 January and 30 June 2018.
