Health Minister meets ICRC head of delegation
SANAA, Jan. 10 (YPA) – Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Taha al-Mutawakil on Thursday met with head of delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Franz Rauchenstein.
During the meeting, Dr. al-Mutawakil discussed with Rauchenstein the medical and therapeutic services that can be offered to the prisoners who would be released within the agreement that emerged from Sweden consultations.
Dr. al-Mutawakil indicated that the Health Ministry formed a team of specialized doctors and specialists to receive and treat the sick prisoners who would be released and allocated hospitals to provide medical and therapeutic services for them and places for their accommodation in coordination with the relevant authorities.
The minister called on the ICRC to provide some urgent needs, such as medicines and medical supplies for skin diseases and mental health.
ICRC official confirmed the committee’s readiness to support the ministry to enable it to present the necessary medical services to the released prisoners, pointing to the importance of forming a joint team from both sides to coordinate efforts in this aspect.
