SANAA, Jan. 8 (YPA) – The UN Security Council will hold a session on Wednesday to hear a report by UN Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffith on the agreements reached in Sweden.
The channel of France-24, Mark Lockock, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, was also due to report to the Security Council on the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
Griffith is seeking to speed up the implementation of the Swedish agreements, particularly those concerning the redeployment of troops in the strategic coastal city of Hodeidah to deliver humanitarian aid and food to the country.
Griffith hopes that in January he will be able to hold a meeting of Yemenis most likely in Kuwait to complete negotiations that began in Sweden.
